On June 21, Sun Microsystems announced the release of the second beta version (Beta 2) of Java 6 – the next-generation development language designed for Web 2.0 programmers.
One of the significant upgrades in the Java 6 Beta 2 is the inclusion of frameworks that support popular scripting languages such as PHP.
Java SE 6, previously codenamed “Mustang,” now fully incorporates existing web client services, along with support for recent web service specifications such as JAX-WS 2.0 and JAXB 2.0. Additionally, Java SE 6 will also support Microsoft’s upcoming operating system – Windows Vista.
The final version of Java SE 6 is expected to be completed this fall. Users can download the beta version of Java SE 6 from Sun’s Developer Network website.
