A Parrot Steals 21 Diamonds from Its Owner and Swallows Them, Only to Be Discovered After a Trip to the Emergency Room.
The parrot named Frosty, living with its owner in Thailand, has become an internet sensation after pulling off a spectacular theft. This 8-month-old parrot stumbled upon its owner’s sparkling jewelry box and was immediately captivated.

It used its sharp beak to remove each diamond from the necklace stored in the box and casually swallowed them.
Each diamond was small enough for the parrot to easily gulp down those sparkling gems. The owner only realized something was wrong when they noticed their beloved parrot suddenly became ill and needed to be rushed to the hospital.

The veterinarians conducted an X-ray and discovered that Frosty’s stomach contained numerous gems of various sizes.
Fortunately, the veterinarian was able to save it from a critical situation. The doctors had to perform an emergency surgery to remove all the diamonds, each valued at approximately 0.2 carats.
Veterinarian Kuntita Paveenasako stated that parrots are easily attracted to shiny, sparkling objects. When the sharp-edged diamonds fell into its stomach, they caused pain and internal injury, and if the owner had not brought it to the hospital in time, it could have faced infection and death.

Kuntita Paveenasako remarked: “These diamonds with sharp edges could harm its internal organs if not treated promptly. We have treated many cases of pets swallowing foreign objects, but it’s truly rare to find one that has ‘cleaned out’ 21 diamonds like this.”
After a surgery that lasted about 2 hours, the veterinarians successfully removed all 21 diamonds.
According to Frosty’s owner, during breakfast, no one noticed where the parrot had gone because it had secretly gone searching for the diamond necklace. By lunchtime, the parrot lay still, appearing extremely weak and unable to eat anything. At that moment, the owner was unaware of what was wrong and only discovered the truth when they took it to the emergency room.
Frosty’s owner mentioned: “Currently, Frosty still has to stay in the hospital for further observation, and it’s expected to be discharged at the end of the month.”
