On September 11, the Thai Binh Seed Corporation organized a workshop to introduce two new rice varieties, TBR225 and TBR117.
Both of these varieties were developed by the Thai Binh Seed Corporation, offering high yields and were recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for trial production in July 2013.
The TBR225 variety is a purebred rice that is sensitive to temperature, has a short growth period, and is less susceptible to rice blast disease compared to the BC15 variety.

The growth period for this variety in Northern provinces during the Spring season typically ranges from 125 to 130 days, while in the Autumn season it is between 100 and 105 days. In provinces from Da Nang southward, the growth period for the Winter-Spring season is about 105 to 110 days, and for the Summer-Autumn season, it is 100 to 105 days.
Through experimental production, it has been shown that this rice variety achieves high yields, notably in Nam Dinh (926 kg/ha), Bac Giang (733 kg/ha), and Thai Binh (728 kg/ha).
In contrast to the TBR225, TBR117 is a purebred rice variety with a shorter growth period than TBR225. In Northern regions, the growth period during Spring is 120 to 125 days and during Autumn it is 98 to 102 days.
TBR117 yields an average of 6500 to 7500 kg/ha, and under good intensive cultivation conditions, it can reach yields of 8500 to 9000 kg/ha. This rice variety has good tillering, upright leaves, sturdy stems, concentrated flowering, and large, long panicles.
Mr. Do Van Lan, Deputy General Director of the Thai Binh Seed Corporation, stated that these two rice varieties have been experimentally cultivated in various localities with different soil characteristics and have all shown good results. In the Spring season of 2014, TBR225 and TBR117 may be included in the production structure of local areas.
