For individuals with disabilities, a newly invented prosthetic leg from the United States is truly life-changing. Equipped with sensors and a transmission device integrated into a computerized system, amputees can walk more naturally, even ascend airplane stairs.
The sensors installed on the prosthetic leg receive signals from a computer to determine the user’s walking speed and stride length.
Bill Dunham, a disabled individual, believes this is the best prosthetic he has ever used. He states: “I just started using this prosthetic leg in January. I find it very convenient. For the first time in 16 years, I was able to climb stairs. It’s truly amazing. I walk much more smoothly than before.”
The new prosthetic leg has only one drawback: it is not suitable for all disabled individuals. Currently, those who wish to use it must be at least 1.63 meters tall and weigh between 61 to 90 kilograms.
