Using modern technology, scientists have created a more “reasonable” version of the face of Jesus Christ.
In Western cultural texts about Christianity, Jesus Christ is often depicted as a white man with long, straight, and perfect hair.
However, recently, forensic scientists from the University of Manchester (UK) have developed a different version of Jesus Christ’s appearance based on data regarding the time, location, and facial features of men from that era. This image is considered to be “more reasonable” regarding the face of Jesus, although it is not 100% accurate.
Jesus Christ is often depicted as a white man with long, straight, and perfect hair.
The scientists had to consider many factors to create this face. First, most researchers agree that Jesus was a Jewish man from the region of Galilee (a northern area of Israel).
Consequently, they analyzed typical skulls of Jewish individuals from the first century to shape Jesus Christ’s facial features.
Next is skin color. Western culture describes Jesus as a white man, but this is not reasonable when considering the climate conditions of the area and the skin tones of men from that time period. Based on drawings of Jewish individuals, scientists believe that Jesus must have had olive skin.
The face considered to be “more reasonable” to describe Jesus Christ.
Finally, regarding hair. People often think that Jesus had long, perfectly straight hair. However, in the book of I Corinthians – a Christian text written by the Apostle Paul – it is recorded: “If a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him.”
The issue is that earlier, the Apostle Paul mentioned that he had encountered Jesus. So, could he have written the above statement if Jesus had long hair? Therefore, scientists believe that Jesus’ hair was curly and short.
