The high-speed railway line, stretching 921 kilometers, is equipped with a special system that continues to operate normally even in temperatures as low as -40 degrees Celsius during winter.
The Harbin – Dalian High-Speed Railway is the first in the world to operate in extremely low temperatures during winter. Marking its 10th anniversary since opening, the line has served 670 million passengers to date.
To traverse regions with winter temperatures dropping to -40 degrees Celsius, the railway is outfitted with a specialized system that ensures normal operation even during snowfall.

“The trains are equipped with electric heating systems and snow-melting devices along the tracks and at junctions. When it snows, these systems operate efficiently.”
“If the snowfall is too heavy, we will implement a double assurance measure, including electric heating and manual snow removal, to ensure the entire line operates normally,” said Wang Hongtao, a staff member responsible for the Changchun section.

“Currently, the high-speed railway has created a safety management system, integrating infrastructure, mobile equipment, comprehensive exploration, and disaster prevention and mitigation, as well as emergency rescue,” added Tang Yunpeng, a staff member from the Shenyang section.
It is known that the Harbin – Dalian High-Speed Railway officially commenced operations in December 2012, with a length of 921 kilometers and a designed train speed of 350 km/h. The line connects the three provinces of Liaoning, Jilin, and Heilongjiang in China.
The opening of this high-speed railway is significant for promoting economic and tourism development in northeastern China. Furthermore, the project showcases the country’s advancements in high-speed rail technology.
