Can the fish survive against these two snakes?
The fish retaliates, biting the entire head of the predator.
A spotted keelback snake (scientific name: Xenochrophis piscator) – a non-venomous snake – caught a catfish in a stream at Kanha National Park, India. However, unexpected events followed.
First, the prey fought back, biting the entire head of the predator. In this situation, the snake found it very difficult to swallow its prey. Yet, a second surprise occurred when another keelback snake approached.
This second snake attempted to eat the fish from its tail. Both snakes were engaged in a tug-of-war for half an hour, with the struggling prey caught in the middle. Eventually, the second snake became exhausted and fell into the water first, while the first snake also abandoned its prey and fled a few moments later.
The fish flailed on the ground for a moment before falling back into the water. It survived an incredible battle against two dangerous foes. If it hadn’t fought so fiercely, this miracle might not have occurred.
