A Terrifying Sea Creature Confuses Fishermen After Being Caught in a Net in Thailand.
The incident was recorded on December 19 in Satun, Thailand. In the clip, a creature resembling a spider with dozens of tentacles writhes on the boat of a fisherman.
Fisherman Chanathat Kongyossapat recounted: “I thought it was just seaweed, but then it moved. I was terrified for a moment.”
The creature is actually a feather star. According to the Phuket Aquarium, feather stars are classified between echinoderms and starfish and are often found in coral reefs or rocky areas.
Feather stars possess many feathery arms, which they use to capture food flowing with the current into their central mouth.
Feather stars can be found in both the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. However, the stars in the Gulf of Thailand are usually black, while those in the Andaman Sea tend to be more colorful.
