What Opponent Did the Python Encounter?
The softshell turtle delivers strong bites, causing the python to suffer.
A reticulated python (scientific name: Python reticulatus) encountered a very rare opponent while drinking water. The opponent had a long, slender head, moved rather slowly but was very aggressive.
It turned out to be a softshell turtle (scientific name: Trionychidae). Although in terms of size, this turtle could not compare to one of the longest snake species in the world, something surprising happened.
The turtle showed no fear of its opponent and delivered strong bites, forcing the python to flee in pain.
While the reticulated python can consume prey weighing around 60 kg, when faced with the small turtle, it had no choice but to… concede defeat!
