Surviving a crocodile attack, the zebra was ultimately taken down by a male lion as it made it to the shore.
Antony Ketikai, 37, was leading a tour along the Mara River in Kenya on August 13 when he spotted a zebra struggling in the water.
In the video, the crocodile barely surfaces as it attacks the zebra underwater. Despite being gripped by the sharp teeth of the swamp predator, the zebra fights for its life. Eventually, it escapes and reaches the shore safely.
Due to its injuries, the zebra attempts to hide behind some grass. However, a male lion spots the zebra and quickly moves in for the kill.
Antony stated: “The zebra fought bravely for nearly an hour before being taken down by a second attack. Earlier, the zebra was drinking water and was about to cross the river when the crocodile grabbed one of its legs. It then became aggressive and started biting the crocodile’s face until the predator gave up.
The lion, hiding on the other side of the river, waited for the zebra to come ashore. When it saw the heavily injured prey, it lunged forward to attack. I felt a bit sorry for the zebra, but that’s the law of nature, and it was fortunate for the lion.”

Zebras are not easy prey; in addition to their ability to run fast, zebras possess a powerful kick that even lions fear. While they may not run as fast as horses, zebras have excellent endurance and good awareness of their surroundings.
When cornered, a zebra can kill an enemy with a quick, powerful kick that can break jaws and lead to death. Their bites are incredibly savage, and zebras also have quick reflexes that help them evade capture by snares.
