The video captures a moment when a diver carefully removes a fishing hook from the mouth of a frightened stingray.
The diver pulls the hook from the animal’s mouth without causing harm, then releases it to swim away.
Recently, Raffa Wake-Valais Sarbach, 37, was swimming off the coast of Bayahibe, Dominican Republic when he and his partner discovered a juvenile stingray caught on a fishing line.
After carefully flipping the stingray over, Raffa removed the hook from its mouth without causing any injury before releasing it back into the water.
Raffa stated: “It looked like a juvenile stingray because it was about half the size of an adult… It took me 5 minutes to remove the hook. Besides a minor injury to its mouth, the stingray seemed fine.”
