In the clip, a man is seen pouring water over the head of a large king cobra. Notably, the venomous snake merely lifts its head and expands its hood without displaying any signs of aggression.
Moreover, the man even playfully interacts with the creature using his hands. The footage is believed to have been filmed in India, where the man is using water to cool the snake on a hot day.
After being posted online, the scene immediately went viral on social media. Many praised the man’s bravery and skills for daring to bathe such a dangerous snake.
Meanwhile, some viewers recognized the man in the clip as Vava Suresh, a renowned wildlife conservationist and snake expert in India.
The king cobra belongs to the Elapidae family, primarily distributed in tropical forest regions stretching from India to Southeast Asia. It is the longest venomous snake in the world, with a maximum recorded length of 7 meters in the wild.
This species is considered dangerous and fearsome within its habitat, although they typically do not actively attack humans.
According to experts, a king cobra can kill its victim with a bite that contains between 200 to 500 mg of venom. Usually, a bite from a king cobra can be fatal in as little as 30 minutes.
