A king cobra (Scientific name: Ophiophagus hannah) has consumed a prey that is equally dangerous, the Sumatran spitting cobra (Scientific name: Naja sumatrana). However, in the presence of the king cobra, any snake species must “bow down.”
The spitting cobra has the ability to spit venom thanks to its small fangs, allowing it to accurately strike from a distance. This is a unique attack method that not all venomous snakes possess.
The Sumatran spitting cobra is a medium-sized cobra (0.9 to 1.2 m), so compared to the king cobra—the longest venomous snake in the world (which can reach up to 7 m)—this prey is merely a light snack!
