Can the King Cobra Re-capture Its Prey?
The rat snake escapes from the cobra and dives into the water to hide.
A King Cobra (scientific name: Ophiophagus hannah) had successfully hunted a rat snake near the riverbank. However, the prey astonishingly slipped away and immediately ran into the water to escape.
The rat snake could not have anticipated that its predator was a species of snake that swims exceptionally well. Moreover, King Cobras are also very skilled climbers, making it difficult for their prey to escape.
Once in the water, constricting or holding onto the prey becomes quite challenging, so the King Cobra employed a unique attack method. It wrapped around the rat snake and spun its victim around. Finally, it waited for the rat snake to succumb to the venom before dragging it ashore to feast.
