xAI founded by billionaire Elon Musk has announced a new AI model after two months of development, capable of answering most questions and featuring a rebellious personality.
“Grok is designed to answer questions with a bit of humor and a rebellious attitude. So please don’t use it if you dislike humor,” stated xAI, Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup, in an announcement on platform X (formerly Twitter).

Grok is xAI’s first AI model, announced on November 4 (local time).
This event comes nearly a year after ChatGPT from OpenAI took the world by storm, sparking a wave of adoption for generative AI technology.
Billionaire Musk co-founded OpenAI in 2015 but stepped down from the board in 2018.
Grok uses a large language model named Grok-1, developed on the Grok-0 prototype with 33 billion parameters. Grok-0 was built shortly after Musk founded xAI in July of this year.
xAI stated that Grok can answer almost anything and can even suggest questions to ask.
“Grok can tackle tricky questions that most other AI systems refuse to answer. However, it will also decline to respond to illegal inquiries,” xAI elaborated, emphasizing that Grok’s distinguishing feature and advantage is its “real-time knowledge of the world” via platform X.
“Grok is still in its early product stages but is the best we could develop after two months of training,” xAI added.
This is one of the fastest-trained generative AIs. xAI also mentioned that Grok will be improved weekly with user feedback.
The development team at xAI comprises employees from DeepMind, OpenAI, Google Research, Microsoft Research, Tesla, and researchers from the University of Toronto.
Initially, Grok AI will only be available to subscribers of the premium package (Premium+) on platform X.
Last week, platform X rolled out two new subscription tiers, including a premium tier at $16 per month for users willing to pay for an ad-free experience, and a basic tier priced at $3 per month.
