Mr. Tinniswood lived to the age of 112.
Born on August 26, 1912, in Liverpool, Mr. Tinniswood entered the world in the same year as the Titanic disaster. He lived through two World Wars, as well as the flu pandemic and the COVID-19 pandemic. He also held the title of the oldest surviving World War II veteran.
In April of this year, the Guinness World Records confirmed Mr. Tinniswood as the oldest man in the world after Juan Vicente Pérez, a Venezuelan, passed away at the age of 114.
Mr. Tinniswood did not smoke and rarely drank alcohol. He attributed his longevity to “just being lucky,” but also advised others to pursue a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
In an interview, Mr. Tinniswood once shared: “Don’t drink too much, eat too much, or do too much. If you overdo anything, in the end, you will have to face the consequences.”
The oldest living woman in the world currently is Mrs. Tomiko Itooka, aged 116, residing in Japan.
