Fairy Meadows is not only a beloved trekking destination but also a Jeep off-road route known as one of the most dangerous in the world.
Fairy Meadows is one of the most famous landmarks in Pakistan, renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty and home to the Nanga Parbat, the ninth highest mountain in the world, standing at 8,126 meters. Reaching this place is no easy feat. First, visitors must travel by Jeep along a treacherous road that winds precariously along mountain cliffs, with many sections wide enough for only one vehicle. Each time vehicles meet, they must wait at a wide enough point for the oncoming vehicle to pass. In some areas, travelers may feel as if the wheels are about to roll off the rocky road. Only a select few with specialized driving licenses are permitted to drive on this route.
Many sections of the road are constructed with stones precariously positioned between cliffs, making the creation of this connecting road a remarkable achievement by the local people.

After 1.5 hours of travel, the Jeep only brings visitors to the foot of the mountain. From there, there are two ways to reach Fairy Meadows, which is situated at an altitude of over 3,300 meters. First, visitors can choose to walk for about 4-5 hours or rent horses at the foot of the mountain to ascend.
The climbing path is quite challenging, requiring travelers to navigate steep slopes along with thin air, but in return, they can gaze at the stunning landscape along the way. The snow-capped mountains rise majestically, interspersed with pine forests reaching for the sunlight. At around 3,000 meters, snow begins to appear on both sides of the path, and the air becomes colder.
Fairy Meadows features wooden houses for visitors, from where they can enjoy a breathtaking view of Nanga Parbat’s peak. Temperatures in spring can drop to around 0 degrees Celsius at night.
From Fairy Meadows, visitors continue for about three hours to reach Beyal Camp at the foot of Nanga Parbat. It is here that the mountain’s grandeur becomes apparent. In spring, the snow still covers the mountain, so no one climbs it. Visitors will have to wait until the snow melts before they can conquer this peak.
The route from Fairy Meadows to Beyal Camp is one of the most beautiful paths, where visitors will traverse through pine forests with babbling streams or cross snow-covered valleys. Together, they create a scene of majestic and poetic natural beauty.
For those not accustomed to walking on snow, they can continue to rent horses to reach Beyal Camp.
