Sidney de Carvalho Mesquita, residing in São Paulo, Brazil, discovered his flexible ability to change his eyeballs at a young age. His friends sometimes call him Uncle Fester due to his humorous appearance resembling the character from The Addams Family.
Since the age of 9, Sidney de Carvalho Mesquita has shown his talent for making funny faces and flexing his eyes. Initially, his family thought that pushing his eyes forward was a sign of some underlying health issue.
It took a long time for both his family and Sidney de Carvalho Mesquita himself to realize that it was an innate ability, a unique talent that not everyone possesses.
Sidney de Carvalho Mesquita stated: “My ability is definitely a gift. It comes from my father and mother, and I thank them very much.”
At first glance, many people feel that Sidney de Carvalho Mesquita’s eyes are about to fall out of their sockets.
When asked about funny stories related to his eyes, Sidney de Carvalho Mesquita shared that his wife didn’t know about this ability until they got engaged. He mentioned that although he knew it was a special ability, it could be a bit scary for someone seeing it for the first time, so he often kept it hidden from his girlfriend.
It wasn’t until their engagement day, when a friend suggested he push his eyeballs out to make a funny face, that his wife discovered his unique talent.
With the ability to push his eyeballs out 1.8 cm, Sidney de Carvalho Mesquita has become the new record holder for the farthest protruding eyeballs in the world. He is honored to have his name in the Guinness World Records.
The previous record belonged to Kim Goodman, who lives in Chicago, Illinois, with an ability to protrude her eyeballs 1.2 cm.
Sidney de Carvalho Mesquita can push his eyeballs out for about 30 seconds; during this act, he temporarily loses his vision for a few seconds before it returns to normal.
