A video posted by an internet user named Brian Roemmele on December 27 shows a whirlwind forming at the base of the El Castillo pyramid, then rising into the sky and moving along the side of the ancient temple.
The footage captures many people screaming and running away from the pyramid, while those further away were astonished by the phenomenon and quickly took out their phones to record it.
