A man has formed an incredible bond with a wild fish, surprising many.
Recently, Newsflare reported that Rex Colubra, a 40-year-old from northern Wisconsin, USA, befriended a smallmouth bass while diving in September 2021. He even named the fish Elvis.
Now, the duo meets every summer when Rex visits the lake where Elvis resides.
Rex, who works as a print shop employee and animal enclosure maker, taught Elvis a call that the fish responds to whenever it hears it.
Rex stated: “I even taught Elvis how to respond to my call. I make a humming sound in my throat, and Elvis comes looking for me.”

Reflecting on their first encounter, Rex shared: “Like any other dive, I was checking out a new spot, and all the fish were coming towards me. I noticed one that was sticking closer than the others. It wasn’t afraid, even when I moved.”
Rex added: “Two weeks later, I returned, and Elvis came up close again, and I fed it. After that, Elvis swam alongside me and just stared into my eyes.” Since then, the man and the fish have often swum together.
Rex currently refuses to disclose which lake Elvis lives in to protect the fish from fishermen, saying: “Of course, I would be very sad if Elvis got caught. Elvis is my friend.”
