Turkish Airlines reserved 6 seats on the plane to accommodate Gelgi’s unique physique. The 25-year-old software engineer plans to stay in the USA for 6 months.
In 2014, at just 18 years old, Gelgi was recognized by the Guinness World Records as the tallest living teenager, standing at 2.13 meters tall, according to Mirror.
Currently, the tallest man in the world is also from Turkey. It is quite rare for a country to have two individuals of different genders recognized as the tallest in the world.
Sultan Kosen – the tallest man in the world
The tallest man in the world, Sultan Kosen, has a height recorded by the Guinness World Records in 2018 as 2.51 meters. His extraordinary height is due to a tumor in his brain, which has affected his pituitary gland, causing it to produce an excess of growth hormone.
