Why Does the Airplane Still Fly Normally?
Occasionally, you may come across videos that capture a perplexing sight: even while flying, the rotors of helicopters or airplanes using this type of engine appear almost motionless. Could this be a “supernatural” phenomenon?
This is not a supernatural phenomenon; it is actually just a technical issue.
Specifically, this phenomenon occurs when the frame rate of the camera matches the rotational speed of the airplane’s propeller. Imagine that when the propeller spins at a constant speed X, and the camera captures images at a corresponding rate, the resulting images will always show the propeller in that position.
This phenomenon is similar to how a helicopter appears to hover in the air, even though the rotors seem to be standing still in the images.
