According to Diario Financiero, officials from the Central Bank of Argentina have approved a proposal to print an image of Lionel Messi on the highest denomination banknote in the country. Currently, several design prototypes have emerged and are awaiting approval.
Diario Financiero confirms that there are several currency designs under consideration. Each prototype has a unique style, but they all feature Messi prominently. The differences likely lie on the reverse side of the banknote.

There is currently a suggestion that the term “La Scaloneta”—the nickname of coach Lionel Scaloni—will be printed on the banknote, as during his leadership, Argentina has captured prestigious titles including the Copa America and the World Cup. Other opinions assert that this achievement is a collective effort of the entire Argentine team, and thus all players should be represented.
The Central Bank of Argentina will take time to review before officially printing this new banknote design. The 1,000 peso note (approximately 150,000 VND) is the highest denomination in Argentina, so the launch of the “1,000 peso Messi” will play a crucial role.

According to Diario Financiero, this will likely be a limited edition. This will create a frenzy for the new 1,000 peso note. Not only Argentines, but the Messi-themed 1,000 peso note is sure to be sought after in many countries, becoming a cherished memento for Messi fans.
This is not the first time Argentina has issued currency to honor outstanding figures. When they won the World Cup in 1978, they released a special coin to celebrate the team. On the anniversary of the late First Lady Eva Perón, the country also launched a special coin.
Argentina previously issued a 100 peso coin to honor Eva Perón.
