It can be said that Mother Nature is truly amazing, containing many surprises, and an inanimate object can hold a very special mystery.
During a business trip, a man named Wang from China stumbled upon a strange large stone covered with silvery strands resembling the hair of a middle-aged person.
What was even more surprising was that the stone was being sold for 40,000 CNY (approximately 133 million VND). Captivated by the stone’s appearance, Mr. Wang eventually purchased it for 18,000 CNY (about 67 million VND). The diameter of this “hairy stone” is about 40 cm, weighs 20 kg, and the “hair” measures around 15 cm in length.
The strange hairy stone.
Although he had no experience in business or collecting antiques, Wang believed that this stone held significant value.
Upon bringing the stone home, Mr. Wang faced fierce opposition from his wife, who claimed he was foolish for bringing home such a bizarre and grotesque object. The couple experienced tense days due to the “hairy stone.”
To uncover the mystery behind this silvery hair, Wang consulted a marine biology expert. After conducting some research on the stone, they were able to provide a satisfactory explanation to the man. What we believe to be “hair” or “fur” on the stone is actually created by an ancient marine organism.
Its remains have covered the surface of the stone. From the residual nutrients and suitable moisture on the surface, microorganisms release thin strands resembling hair, gradually forming a thick, silvery “mane” like that of a human. Over time, as the terrain changed, the stone, which was once submerged deep in the ocean, surfaced due to changes in the Earth’s surface and has existed until now.
This hairy stone is considered one of the rarest types in the world, making it very difficult to find anywhere. When placed in suitable natural conditions, the smooth stone begins to ‘grow hair’. Such stones are very special and can be valued from several million to tens of millions of CNY (billions of VND).
