Approximately 22 countries across various continents have erected numerous statues and monuments to commemorate the achievements of President Ho Chi Minh.

Ho Chi Minh statue in Havana, Cuba
The Ho Chi Minh statue in Havana, Cuba, was completed in celebration of the 113th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birth on May 19, 2003.

The statue was designed by Cuban architect Yoel Diaz Gutieres. “The country and people of Vietnam always hold a special place in the hearts of the Cuban people. This has motivated me to learn about Vietnam’s history and about President Ho Chi Minh to create this monument,” he shared.

The statue is located in Peace Park. On April 20, Cuba held a ceremony to rename Peace Park to Ho Chi Minh Park, coinciding with the official visit of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

“Witnessing the moment Peace Park was renamed Ho Chi Minh Park, a symbolic milestone of the special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba, we express our heartfelt emotion and sincere gratitude towards the love and kindness of the Cuban people,” stated National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue during the ceremony.

The park also features informational plaques detailing the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh.

The statue of President Ho Chi Minh working at a rattan table and chair was inaugurated in January 2009 in the park in Mexico City. The wall behind the statue features a golden inscription “Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom” in Spanish.

This work was created by sculptor Pedro Ramírez Ponzanell, who is known for his statues located in various sites across Mexico and around the world.

Ho Chi Minh statue in France inaugurated in 2005
The Ho Chi Minh statue in France was inaugurated in 2005. This bronze bust, standing two meters tall, bears the inscription “The hero of national liberation and cultural figure of Vietnam” and is located in Montreau Park, Montreuil, a suburb of Paris.

During the inauguration of the statue, then-mayor of Montreuil Jean Pierre Brard stated that the statue is a manifestation of the affection of the city’s residents and the people of France towards President Ho Chi Minh.

He described President Ho Chi Minh as a symbol of the struggle for oppressed and enslaved nations worldwide, affirming that this statue would represent the solidarity and friendship between the two countries.

Ho Chi Minh statue in Moscow, Russia
The Ho Chi Minh statue in Moscow, Russia, is located in a square of the same name in the Akademichesky district. This monument was inaugurated on May 18, 1990, in celebration of the 100th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birth.

The statue depicts President Ho Chi Minh smiling, alongside a Vietnamese youth poised to spring forward. Below the statue is inscribed “Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom.”

The statue was created by sculptor Vladimir Yefimovich Tsigal and architect Roman Grigoryevich Kananin. Sculptor Tsigal visited Vietnam in 1985 to learn about President Ho Chi Minh for his project.

According to him, “the circle symbolizes the Sun, representing the dream of a bright future for Vietnam”, and the image of two bamboo trees below is rooted in his understanding of this characteristic plant of Vietnam. “Bamboo can be bent but is hard to break, just like the will and strength of Vietnam.”

The statue of President Ho Chi Minh also appears in several other locations in Russia, including the city of Ulyanovsk, Lenin’s hometown, Saint Petersburg, and Vladivostok.

This statue was created by renowned Hungarian sculptor Marton László in 1976. The image of President Ho Chi Minh is depicted in a simple, relatable manner, with his famous quote “Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom” engraved on the back.

The statue won an award from the Hungarian Ministry of Culture in 1977 and has become a cultural symbol of the city of Zalaegerszeg.

By September 2011, the National Heritage Board of Singapore, the Vietnamese embassy in Singapore, and the Ho Chi Minh Museum agreed to place an additional bronze statue of President Ho Chi Minh next to the memorial plaque.

The bust is cast in bronze, measuring 0.55m in height and 0.36m in width. The front of the plaque contains bilingual English-Vietnamese information briefly introducing the biography of President Ho Chi Minh.

The back of the memorial plaque beside the statue features an excerpt of the poem “Listening to the Sound of Rice Grinding” from President Ho Chi Minh’s poetry collection “Prison Diary.”
