Which Snake Can Eliminate the Second Most Venomous Snake in the World?
The Mulga Snake (Scientific name: Pseudechis australis) is known as the “killer of killers” due to its immunity to the venom of other venomous snakes. They also exhibit behavior similar to that of king cobras, hunting other snakes for food.
Therefore, this snake can be considered the “king cobra” of Australia – a land known for its highly venomous snakes. In fact, the Mulga snake is also referred to as the king brown snake.

This time, the prey targeted by the Mulga snake for breakfast is a notorious predator, the eastern brown snake (Scientific name: Pseudonaja nuchalis) – the second most venomous snake in the world after the inland taipan (also found in Australia).
This species has the potential to cause death in an adult within just 15 minutes; in fact, even a dose of about 1/12,000 of their venom is enough to be lethal.
Meanwhile, the Mulga snake is the largest terrestrial venomous snake in Australia, possessing more venom per bite than any other snake in the world. The mortality rate without treatment using antivenom ranges from 40% to 60%.
Although it does not rank in the top 10 most venomous snakes globally, the Mulga snake is indeed the “killer of killers” and serves as a daytime nightmare for the eastern brown snake specifically and other venomous snakes in Australia in general.
