According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, a cold air mass is currently continuing to move southward.
It is forecasted that by early tomorrow morning (December 17), this cold air mass will affect several areas in the northern mountainous region, and by tomorrow, December 17, it will impact other regions in the North and North Central, subsequently affecting some areas in the Central Central region.
Starting tomorrow, Hanoi will have light rain at times and cold weather.
Due to the influence of the aforementioned cold air mass, light rain will be scattered across the North tomorrow (December 17). The North and Central Central regions will experience rain and thunderstorms from early morning on December 17 to December 18, with some areas experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall.
From tomorrow night (December 17), the North and areas from Thanh Hóa to Thừa Thiên Huế will experience cold weather, with minimum temperatures in the North generally ranging from 13 to 16 degrees Celsius, and mountainous areas dropping below 10 degrees Celsius; the region from Thanh Hóa to Thừa Thiên Huế will generally see temperatures between 15 and 18 degrees Celsius.
In the Hanoi area, tomorrow (December 17) will see light rain at times, and from tomorrow night (December 17), it will be cold with minimum temperatures generally ranging from 14 to 16 degrees Celsius.
Starting tomorrow (December 17), inland winds will gradually shift to the northeast, increasing to level 2-3, while coastal areas will reach level 4; in the Gulf of Tonkin and the sea area from Quảng Trị to Cà Mau, northeast winds will strengthen to level 6, gusting to level 7-8, causing rough seas with wave heights of 2-4 meters; in the northern and central parts of the East Sea (including the sea area around the Paracel Islands), northeast winds will reach level 7, gusting to levels 8-9, leading to strong sea disturbances with wave heights of 3-5 meters.
Currently, a low-pressure trough extending from approximately 4.0 to 7.0 degrees North is connected to a low-pressure area located at around 4.5 to 5.5 degrees North and 105.5 to 106.5 degrees East. Due to the influence of this low-pressure trough, today and tonight (December 16), the area from Cà Mau to Kiên Giang will experience showers and thunderstorms. There is a possibility of tornadoes and strong gusts during thunderstorms.
