The 2104-year-old Tau tree is located at the Thien Co Temple (in Hương Lan village, Trưng Vương commune, Việt Trì city, Phú Thọ province). It was recognized as a heritage tree by the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment (VACNE) on May 28, 2012. This tree is currently the oldest in Vietnam, and since being honored as a Vietnamese heritage tree, the Central and local VACNE has mobilized and guided the community to care for the tree scientifically. Thanks to timely removal of the soil and rocks pressing around the trunk, expanding its living space, fertilizing, removing mold and parasitic plants, and pruning diseased branches, this spring, the Tau tree has produced many lush new branches.

2. The Nearly 1000-Year-Old Dalbergia Tree

The Dalbergia tree in Giữa village, Tiên Lục, Lạng Giang, Bắc Giang, was recognized as a heritage tree on November 26, 2013. The tree has a diameter of 2.59m, stands nearly 30m tall, and is approximately 1,000 years old. This tree is extremely rare, as essential oils are present in all parts of the tree, while the roots contain safrole, a highly valuable component in food and cosmetic processing. The wood of the Dalbergia tree can be used to make incense, a very fragrant and precious type.

3. The 18-Tree Cluster of Ficus Trees, Approximately 1000 Years Old

The 18-tree cluster of Ficus trees, approximately 1,000 years old, is located in Cam Lam village (Đường Lâm, Sơn Tây, Hanoi). This is where King Ngô Quyền once tied his war elephants and horses after military drills in preparation for advancing to the Bạch Đằng River to defeat the Southern Han army, ending 1,000 years of Northern domination. The cluster of 18 trees was recognized on April 22, 2011.

4. The 804-Year-Old Banyan Tree
The 804-year-old Banyan tree is located in Suối Cốc village, Hợp Hòa commune, Lương Sơn district, Hòa Bình province. It has over 50 roots spanning hundreds of square meters, boasting the largest trunk circumference in Vietnam. This tree is also one of the oldest and most significant ancient trees currently in Vietnam.

5. The 736-Year-Old Rice Tree

The 736-year-old Rice tree was planted by Princess Quỳnh Trân at the Mõ temple in Nghi Dương village, Ngũ Phúc commune, Kiến Thụy district, Hải Phòng city. The main trunk is approximately 30m tall with a diameter of over 2m. A secondary trunk with a diameter of 0.49m grows from the base of the main trunk. The tree was recognized as a Vietnamese heritage tree during the festival at Mõ temple on March 16, 2011.

6. The 304-Year-Old Banyan Tree with 13 Roots

The 13-root Banyan tree in Ngô Quyền district, Hải Phòng city is considered the largest banyan tree with the most roots in Vietnam. Legend has it that the 13-root banyan tree has a shrine dedicated to Đức Thổ Vượng, who helped the villagers clear the land and establish the village. The 13-root banyan tree is now a famous and unique spiritual tourism destination for visitors from all over.

7. The 304-Year-Old Sau Tree

The 304-year-old Sau tree is located near the Sóc Giang border gate, Hà Quảng district, Cao Bằng province, less than 7m from the Vietnam-China border marker 651. The tree stands 38m tall with a diameter of 3.13m. It was recognized as a Vietnamese heritage tree on September 3, 2012. The tree is currently being cared for and protected by the local people and authorities.

8. The Approximately 300-Year-Old Tan Trao Banyan Tree

The Tan Trao Banyan tree is one of the attractions in the Tan Trao historical site, located in Sơn Dương district, Tuyên Quang province. The Tan Trao Banyan tree used to consist of two trees, known as the “male banyan” and the “female banyan,” growing about 10m apart. However, the “male banyan” was blown down by a storm, leaving only a small branch. The “female banyan,” due to its old age and the harsh weather conditions, has nearly dried up, leaving only one branch alive. Currently, the Tan Trao Banyan tree is reviving due to more scientific and careful care.

9. The Over 300-Year-Old White Mai Tree

The White Mai tree in the Phú Tự communal house yard, Phú Hưng commune, Bến Tre city, Bến Tre province, is over 300 years old. This tree is also known as “The God of Mai,” “The Famous Wood White Mai.” Legend has it that during the reign of Emperor Minh Mạng, when the locals chose land to build the Phú Tự communal house, they noticed the lush White Mai tree. Currently, the main trunk is no longer present, but there are many small branches extending out, spreading over an area of 200m², reaching a height of 14m. The tree remains lush and grows in dense clusters with about 50 large and small trunks, 5-6m tall, among which are 16 large trunks with diameters ranging from 20-30 cm.

10. The 132-Year-Old Bodhi Tree in Yang Lanh

The Bodhi tree (Ficus Religiosa L) in Yang Lanh village, Dak Lak, is 132 years old. The tree has 9 trunks, stands nearly 29 meters tall, has a diameter of 2.7 meters, and casts a shade of nearly 30 square meters. According to some village elders from Yang Lanh, this 132-year-old Bodhi tree was brought and planted in Yang Lanh by a monk from Pak Xê, Laos. Previously, in March 2014, the Asian Record Organization and the Vietnam Record Association awarded a certificate recognizing this 132-year-old Bodhi tree as the oldest planted tree in the Central Highlands region.
