Top 10 Countries with the Most Scarce Men in the World

While in countries like China and India, the male-to-female ratio skews heavily towards men, resulting in increasing gender imbalance, the following countries experience the opposite trend.

Countries with the Scarcity of Men in the World

  • 1. Latvia: Male to Female Ratio 0.85:1
  • 2. Estonia: Male to Female Ratio 0.86:1
  • 3. Ukraine: Male to Female Ratio 0.86:1
  • 4. Belarus: Male to Female Ratio 0.88:1
  • 5. Lithuania: Male to Female Ratio 0.88:1
  • 6. Russia: Male to Female Ratio 0.88:1
  • 7. Hungary: Male to Female Ratio 0.91:1
  • 8. Monaco: Male to Female Ratio 0.91:1
  • 9. Moldova: Male to Female Ratio 0.91:1
  • 10. Kazakhstan: Male to Female Ratio 0.92:1

1. Latvia: Male to Female Ratio 0.85:1

Latvia is the country with the greatest shortage of men in the world. Alongside a high female population, Latvia boasts the tallest average height for women, contributing to their reputation for beauty. To address the gender imbalance, civil organizations in Latvia have been advocating for a policy of “ten women for one husband,” hoping to legitimize this system.

2. Estonia: Male to Female Ratio 0.86:1

As a neighbor to Latvia, Estonia shares a similar history and geographical proximity, resulting in a comparable male-to-female ratio. Women make up 54.5% of Estonia’s population, and the country has been experiencing a continuous negative growth trend for many years. The aging population predominantly affects men, further widening the gender gap.

Men make up only 45.5% of Estonia's population.

3. Ukraine: Male to Female Ratio 0.86:1

Ukraine is renowned as the “Land of Beauties.” In the capital, Kyiv, one can frequently encounter stunning Ukrainian women characterized by slender figures, beautiful faces, elegant attire, and graceful demeanors, creating a picturesque scene on the streets of the capital.

With a low birth rate and a high female population, surrogate motherhood has emerged as a profession. In 2016, Ukraine legalized surrogacy and provided corresponding medical support. Although this may seem unbelievable, it cannot be denied that Ukraine has effectively contributed to the nation’s GDP through this method.

4. Belarus: Male to Female Ratio 0.88:1

Belarus, a small country in Eastern Europe, imports strategic resources like oil, natural gas, coal, and steel, aside from wood. Despite a population of only 10 million and relatively scarce natural resources, Belarus possesses a unique asset that others envy—its beautiful women. Due to the “brain drain” of its beauties, President Alexander Lukashenko has personally ordered restrictions on the “export” of these women.

5. Lithuania: Male to Female Ratio 0.88:1

Together with Latvia and Estonia, Lithuania is part of the Baltic region and boasts a proud resource. Due to ethnic migration, culture, and history, Lithuanian women possess the delicate features of Eastern European women combined with the height of Western European women, blending the best facial traits from both Russian and European lineages. Lithuania’s population is under 3 million, and notably, the male suicide rate here is exceptionally high, consistently ranking at the top worldwide.

6. Russia: Male to Female Ratio 0.88:1

Russia is famous for producing beautiful women with lustrous blonde hair, fair skin, and sharp facial features, resembling Barbie dolls. Preliminary statistics show that women make up 53.2% of the Russian population, meaning over 10 million women across the country face challenges in finding husbands.

In 2018, the average life expectancy for Russian men was 67.5 years, while for women, it was 78 years—a difference of over 10 years. The female population in Russia that year was 78.6 million, compared to 67.85 million men, resulting in a record excess of over 11 million women.

7. Hungary: Male to Female Ratio 0.91:1

In addition to its many beauties, Hungary also has a high average life expectancy. Given that women outnumber men, the Hungarian government has introduced polygamy policies to boost fertility rates. This open policy, combined with an inclusive culture and a romantic living environment, encourages women here to be bold and pioneering in thought, willing to love and hate without jealousy over shared husbands.

8. Monaco: Male to Female Ratio 0.91:1

The Principality of Monaco is a city-state located in Europe, one of only two principalities on the continent and the second smallest country in the world (after Vatican City). Monégasques are very wealthy, and Monaco ranks among the highest in the world for per capita income, with a relatively developed economy. Surrounded by the fashion capital of France, fashion and luxury goods are integral to the daily lives of Monaco’s residents.

The romance, wealth, and fashion have become national symbols, attracting a large influx of women from around the globe. This has led to a serious aging population issue, resulting in women constituting the majority of the population.

9. Moldova: Male to Female Ratio 0.91:1

Throughout Moldova’s history, various ethnic groups have coexisted, and today, ethnicities such as Romanian, Moldovan, Russian, Bulgarian, and Ukrainian still inhabit the region. The beautiful women here are often the product of this ethnic diversity, leading Moldovan girls to be both modest and stunning. Moldova is often referred to as the “capital of beauty,” and Moldovan beauties frequently excel in international beauty pageants!

10. Kazakhstan: Male to Female Ratio 0.92:1

Located in Central Asia, Kazakhstan is a melting pot of European and Mongolian ethnicities, making it a land abundant with beauty, particularly attracting many online admirers. On the streets of Almaty, you can see Kazakh women with long black hair and deep facial features, as well as fair-skinned and adventurous girls with blonde hair and blue eyes. This multicultural beauty represents the best of both worlds.

The social phenomenon of having too many women renders monogamy meaningless, leading many families to practice polygamy, where brides can be married without a dowry; in some regions, a single cow is sufficient to end a bachelorhood.
