This is a strange battle between two predators.
This is a life-and-death battle between a young carpet python and a green tree frog.
The carpet python is a well-known species in Australia (Scientific name: Morelia spilota). This snake can grow to lengths of 2 to 4 meters and weigh up to 15 kg when fully grown. However, young pythons are very vulnerable.
Below is a life-and-death struggle between a juvenile carpet python and a green tree frog, also known as the Australian white-bellied tree frog (Scientific name: Litoria caerulea). The hungry frog has tightly bitten its prey and is attempting to swallow the python.
Measuring about 10 cm in length, the white-bellied tree frog is larger than most other frog species in Australia. This species is omnivorous and often lives near humans. They can eat mice, cockroaches, and even small birds.
This frog species has high medical value because the mucus on their skin has antibacterial and antiviral properties (including caerin, a group of peptides). Many peptides from their secretions can even kill HIV without harming T cells.
