Medical experts at E Central Hospital have recently announced a treatment result for children suffering from Delta muscular atrophy using physical therapy, combined with exercise and rehabilitation. This news is drawing significant attention from the public, as historically, most cases of diagnosed Delta muscular atrophy have been recommended for surgery.
After a visit to a district hospital, doctors confirmed that Nguyen Tuan Viet was suffering from Delta muscular atrophy. Upon further examination at the Central Hospital, the doctors recommended surgery for Viet. However, after conducting a clinical examination and an ultrasound, the medical team at E Central Hospital determined that surgery was not necessary; Viet could be treated with physical therapy and rehabilitation instead. After just one month of training, several of Viet’s motor functions have begun to recover.
According to Nguyen Cong Luan, a technician at the Orthopedic Center of E Hospital, initially, Viet could not bend his arms symmetrically. Now, he has regained this ability. Viet himself has also noticed the effectiveness of the training; previously, his shoulder muscles were very stiff, but now they have softened, and he is able to move as usual.
This is encouraging news for patients with Delta muscular atrophy, as this treatment method is less costly and helps avoid side effects. However, a formal conclusion from the scientific council is still awaited.
