Nissan and Nippon Paint Develop Self-Healing Paint
Nissan, in collaboration with Japanese paint manufacturer Nippon Paint, has created a unique type of paint that has the ability to self-heal after being scratched.
Named Scratch Guard Coat, this innovative paint contains a high-density flexible resin that can fill in minor scratches caused by collisions, fingernails, or keys. The healing process can take anywhere from one day to a week, with faster results in warmer weather. The benefits of this new paint are particularly significant for drivers who frequently take their vehicles to car washes, a common source of minor scratches. Scratch Guard Coat will initially be available for sale in Japan.
