According to ABP News, over the weekend, residents of Jagtial, India, woke up to a phenomenon known as “fish rain” falling in the area.
“Fish rain” is a rare weather phenomenon referred to as “animal rain”, occurring when small aquatic animals such as frogs, crabs, and small fish fall from the sky along with rain.
The town of Jagtial, located in the state of Telangana, India, is currently experiencing prolonged heavy rainfall. Local authorities have issued warnings that this rainfall is expected to continue for several more days. Previously, some districts in Telangana experienced torrential downpours, with rainfall reaching up to 200 mm.
Surprisingly, amidst the heavy rains, a significant number of fish fell from the sky over the course of two days, July 8-9.
Many locals rushed to catch fish.
A few days earlier, a similar phenomenon occurred in the Bhupalpally district of Telangana. Last month, reports of fish rain were also noted in the dense forests of Mahadevpur.
In October of last year, a similar incident was reported when residents of Bhadohi in Uttar Pradesh witnessed fish falling from the sky. These marine creatures accompanied strong winds and heavy rain that struck the area that day. Small fish were seen falling in the rain near the Kandhiya Gate area of Chauri, captivating onlookers.
The phenomenon of “fish rain” or “animal rain” is often observed when a waterspout (a tornado moving over a body of water) sucks up small aquatic animals. As a result, frogs, crabs, and small fish are lifted into the air and then fall to the ground from a great height. |
