The people of Ma Village, Tac Son County, Song Tai, China often recount a curious phenomenon that occurs at a certain hill whenever it snows.
The story began in 1973 when a heavy snowfall suddenly blanketed Ma Village, covering every house as if wrapped in a white quilt. At this time, the villagers discovered something unusual at a nearby hill. No matter how thick the snow fell, it quickly melted away without leaving a trace on that strange hill. In contrast, the snow remained piled high in other areas.
Seeing this, Elder Li suspected that there must be something beneath that hill causing this peculiarity. Consequently, he decided to dig it up one night, ultimately creating a large hole in the ground. Elder Li discovered an ancient tomb underneath, with an incredibly spacious interior. He believed that the tomb held many treasures, which could fetch a high price, so he hurriedly climbed down. However, not long after, the villagers saw Elder Li rushing home, appearing extremely frightened. What had happened?

According to Elder Li’s account, the tomb did not contain many items; mainly, there were ceramics and a few other artifacts. He used a flashlight to search around. Suddenly, Elder Li felt something behind him. When he turned around, a shadow of a woman appeared, leaning against a door and staring intently at him. Upon seeing this, Elder Li quickly turned and ran back to the village.
After returning home, Elder Li remained terrified, shivering and hiding under his blanket, afraid to go outside. His unusual behavior drew the attention of others. They were very angry to learn that Elder Li had dug up the hill. Based on the information he provided, the village chief contacted archaeologists from the local Cultural Heritage Bureau to excavate the ancient tomb.
After examining the tomb, the experts were so delighted that they began to dance. This was because beneath the hill was not just a single tomb, but a large-scale tomb complex.

It turned out that the shadow of the woman Elder Li saw was actually an image painted on the wall of the tomb. The tomb was decorated with numerous murals. These murals were painted so vividly that they looked lifelike. The mural depicting the girl that Elder Li saw was among them. She was dressed very simply, appearing to be a maid. The girl was shown entering a theater, seemingly checking if it was open to inform her master.
This tomb complex beneath the hill consists of 14 tombs, and the archaeologists have spent a great deal of time and effort but have only excavated 9 of them so far. During the excavation process, the experts also discovered that these ancient tombs date back to the Jin Dynasty. The murals inside the tomb are culturally significant and possess high artistic value for research. Fortunately, these murals have not been destroyed by time.
