South Korean newspaper reports that Samsung and Microsoft are preparing to launch a new type of “hybrid” disk.
The “hybrid” disk is a combination of flash memory and traditional hard disk drive technology. This type of disk is specifically designed to be compatible with Microsoft’s Windows Vista operating system.
A spokesperson for Samsung confirmed that the company has developed this hybrid disk specifically for Windows Vista.
With the integration of flash memory technology, boot-up speeds are expected to improve significantly. Moreover, the hybrid disk technology can also extend battery life—a particularly important feature for laptops.
