Siduhe Bridge: A “Giant” Project Demonstrating the Remarkable Development of China’s Infrastructure System.
Siduhe Bridge – the world’s highest bridge from 2009 to 2016.
Not only does China boast advanced machinery for construction, but it is also renowned for its modern transportation system that astonishes the world. Among these achievements, Siduhe Bridge stands out, having been recognized as the highest bridge in the world from 2009 to 2016.
Siduhe Bridge, located at an altitude of 496 meters above sea level, makes many hesitant to look down. There have been instances when photographers captured breathtaking scenes of the bridge enveloped in clouds.
Siduhe Bridge is 496 meters above sea level.
Many experts believe that Siduhe represents one of the symbols of the remarkable advancement of the infrastructure system in the populous nation.
At the time of its completion, the bridge was so high that its nearest competitor in Mexico was 100 meters lower. Additionally, Siduhe Bridge surpassed the Royal Gorge Bridge in Colorado by 205 meters.
The Siduhe Bridge was inaugurated on November 15, 2009, located about 80 kilometers south of the famous Three Gorges area of the Yangtze River in Hubei Province, China. It is one of many cutting-edge projects in the final 483 kilometers of the 2,175-kilometer Xihurong Expressway, connecting Shanghai, Chongqing, and Chengdu.
The construction cost of the bridge was approximately 100 million USD.
Siduhe Bridge features four lanes and spans approximately 1,222 meters. It has a structure similar to popular suspension bridges with H-shaped concrete towers, cables, and a suspension system.
Interestingly, due to its height and the difficult terrain, instead of using balloons or helicopters to transport the test cables across the valley during construction, the construction team launched rockets from one mountain to another. This unique method contributed to Siduhe’s global fame. The bridge’s construction cost was reported to be around 100 million USD (over 2.3 trillion VND).
The project showcases China’s superior construction capabilities.
It is not just a transportation route but also a testament to China’s exceptional construction capabilities. Standing on the bridge, visitors can enjoy stunning views of the Sidu River and experience the thrill of being at an unimaginable height.
