In a clip filmed at the Maasai Mara National Reserve (Kenya), it can be seen that despite being closely pursued by a lion, the gazelle maintains a safe distance from the predator.
With its famous zig-zag jumps, typically, after just a few changes in direction, the gazelle can cause its pursuer to lose momentum and control.
However, during this encounter, the gazelle was unfortunate and slipped while attempting to make a directional jump. The momentum from its high-speed jump onto an uneven mound caused the gazelle to lose balance and tumble to the ground. A few brief seconds were not enough for it to regain its footing. Taking advantage of this opportunity, the lion swiftly approached and claimed its prize.
