A tourist boat was capsized by a waterspout in Phetchaburi Province, Thailand, causing 7 people to fall into the river, resulting in one fatality and one person missing.
At 5 PM on August 12, the boat was suddenly attacked by a waterspout while carrying 7 passengers on a tour around the Ban Ta Boon Bay. All passengers were Thai nationals.
After the boat capsized in front of many witnesses, rescue units from the Sawang Sanphet Thammasatan organization were dispatched to search for the victims. They rescued 4 women and one man with minor injuries, but 2 individuals remained missing at that time.
Approximately 12 hours later, the body of a man in his twenties was found washed ashore. This individual was identified as Chanin Chompinthong, one of the missing passengers from the boat.

The operator of the ill-fated boat, 63-year-old Sampan Jinping, reported that both missing tourists were men; one was wearing a Hawaiian shirt while the other was dressed in a black t-shirt and jeans.
Thailand has experienced several serious underwater accidents at popular tourist attractions. Notably, a boat capsizing incident in 2018 off the coast of Phuket resulted in nearly 50 tourist fatalities.
