This is the incredible moment when a strange phenomenon appeared in the sky over Indonesia.
This sighting was recorded on June 4 in East Java Province, Indonesia. The footage shows a strange elliptical gap with white clouds in the center, hovering in the sky.
Hukama Nur Akmal, a meteorologist at the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency, stated that this phenomenon is known as a cloud hole – sometimes referred to as cloud hole or cavum.
A cloud hole forms when the water temperature in the clouds is below freezing but has not yet frozen due to a lack of ice nucleation particles. To create a hole, droplets in the cloud layer must reach a “supercooled” state of -15 degrees Celsius. When ice crystals form, they trigger a domino effect that causes surrounding water droplets to freeze and fall. Thus, a cloud hole is born.
Researchers believe that disturbances in the cloud layer caused by aircraft can create cloud holes. Air passing through the propellers or wings of an aircraft will expand and cool instantly, leading to the formation of ice crystals. As the aircraft moves away, the crystals remain, falling from the cloud and potentially creating large cloud holes.

Hukama stated: “When an aircraft flies through a thin layer of accumulating clouds, it causes freezing phenomena. The freezing process turns water droplets into ice crystals and creates a domino effect, where ice crystals fall from a great height and may sometimes bend due to varying wind speeds.”
He added that cavum clouds can be found in three types of clouds ranging from medium to high altitude. Because of their circular shape, cloud holes are sometimes mistaken for UFOs.
