As a dust devil swept across the soccer field, the players did not panic and run away; instead, they stood helplessly watching.
The clip was recorded at an informal soccer field in Aguascalientes, Mexico.
Specifically, a group of people was playing soccer when a dust devil suddenly “visited.” However, what was surprising was that the players did not panic and run away but calmly stood by as the whirlwind left the scene, allowing them to continue their game.
Perhaps they were so accustomed to the appearance of dust devils that they remained composed. At the end of the clip, the dust devil made contact with a car before disappearing.
Manuel Oropeza, who recorded the clip, stated: “I was watching a soccer match when a gigantic dust devil cut through.”
A dust devil, also known as a whirlwind, is a type of strong vortex that is tightly formed and can last for a long time, with sizes ranging from quite small (a few meters high and half a meter wide) to very large (up to 1000 meters high and over 10 meters wide). On Earth, dust devils are usually harmless. However, a large dust devil can cause significant damage to both people and property. Dust devils typically occur around noon when the ground is hottest. The air at the surface heats up and rises quickly, while cooler air above rushes down to take its place, creating swirling winds. Dust and sand are then lifted high into the air, forming the dust devil. |
