The Prime Minister has just signed a decision approving the Strategy for Research and Application of Space Technology until 2020. This includes the agreement that Vietnam will design and manufacture its own small Earth observation satellites, create competitively priced ground stations, master rocket technology and techniques, and train a team of highly skilled personnel.
Thus, alongside the remote sensing satellite (Vinasat) currently being manufactured abroad, Vietnam will, for the first time, conduct its own research and manufacturing of small satellites in the near future. The project for producing small satellites is led by scientists at the Space Technology Application Coordination Center (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology).
