A spokesperson for Guinness World Records told CNN on March 15 that this blueberry was picked on November 13 and is the heaviest blueberry in the world.
This blueberry measures 39.31 mm in diameter, nearly the size of a ping pong ball. It was grown in Corindi, New South Wales, Australia, at the Costa farm.
It is a cultivar called Eterna, known for its large fruit size, crisp texture, and long shelf life.
Previously, the record for the heaviest blueberry was held by one weighing 16.20 grams that was grown in Western Australia in 2020.
Costa is a research and development farm specializing in developing new blueberry varieties that can be cultivated in a variety of conditions.
