The first tournament in the world exclusively dedicated to online games, named GNGWC (Game and Game World Championship), will feature competitions in three games: Silkroad Online, Shot Online, and Gunbound. Three outstanding Gunbound players from Vietnam will be sent to South Korea to participate in this event.
The GNGWC 2006 is organized by the Ministry of Information and Communication of South Korea to promote the country’s renowned gaming industry. The finals are scheduled to take place in Sewon (South Korea), known as the “holy land of online gaming,” on September 23.
AsiaSoft has announced that the National Gunbound Granprix Championship in Vietnam will officially kick off on July 24 as part of the GNGWC, aiming to select the best gamers for the competition. The prize for the champion at the Gunbound finals in GNGWC 2006 in South Korea amounts to $10,000, double the initial estimate by the organizers.
According to the plan, from July 24 to August 21, Gunbound Vietnam will feature an additional Granprix Zone for competition, accessible only to VIP Club members. The competition format will be Quick Play with 3 players on each side (3 vs 3). The system will automatically classify players by region to pair them for matches. After each victory, team members will earn 3 points, while a loss results in a deduction of 1 point. At the end of the competition round, the top 128 players from both the Northern and Southern regions will advance to the next stage. The highest scorer in this round will be directly selected to travel to South Korea for the finals.
The offline rounds will be held on September 1 and 3 in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. This time, players will compete in a knockout format in 1 vs 1 matches until a champion is found.
In addition to the ticket to South Korea for the tournament, the national champion will receive a 17″ NOVA LCD screen along with $200. The second and third place winners will receive $150 and $100, respectively. Special prizes, such as mobile phones, DVD players, and caps, will also be awarded to lucky players who reach the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals of the tournament.
AsiaSoft will assist gamers with travel arrangements from their localities to South Korea for the competition, covering living expenses in South Korea and return travel. However, players need to prepare their regular passports and complete the necessary exit procedures as per government regulations.
