However, the quantity to be produced has not yet been mentioned.
The plan for human trials of the flu vaccine has been submitted to the Ministry of Health for feedback.
However, given the potential risk of a pandemic occurring in humans, waiting for the Ministry of Health to approve the use of the vaccine could lead to delayed production. Therefore, the Institute has proactively prepared to ensure that the vaccine will be available for the public if necessary.
In a conversation with reporters on the afternoon of November 8, Deputy Minister of Health Trịnh Quân Huấn stated: ‘Currently, the H5N1 vaccine that Vietnam is researching complies with the regulations of the World Health Organization (WHO) (meaning it meets the 9 requirements set by WHO). One of the important regulations is to determine whether the H antigen (Haemagglutinin) has immunogenicity and whether 5 continuously produced vaccine batches generate the same antibodies, which the Institute is researching. The Institute is currently awaiting a written response from WHO regarding the research results to continue its research and production.
The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Science and Technology fully agree with the implementation of clinical trials (testing on humans).
