After a year of testing, starting from May 1, 2006, the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group officially launched the Video Conferencing service over the NGN network nationwide.
This service for transmitting audio and visual signals allows customers to organize meetings, conferences, training sessions, and workshops at multiple locations through video links. Additionally, the service offers many other conveniences, such as connecting to computers for text presentations, linking with external audio systems, and storage devices to record important sessions. This service not only ensures high information security but also guarantees flexibility and reliability in communication, while helping to reduce costs for both service providers and customers.
The main target customers for this service include businesses and organizations that require Video Conference services, universities, training centers needing remote education solutions, hospitals, and entities intending to develop broadcasting applications…
As soon as VNPT announced the trial (in May 2005), three initial customers began using the Video Conferencing service for their weekly and monthly meetings across the three regions: the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, Vietnam Television, and Techcombank. In August 2005, the Central Pediatrics Hospital also utilized the Video Conferencing service to conduct consultations, accurately diagnose, and propose proactive treatment directions for patients remotely. Currently, the network of pediatric hospitals can use the NGN video conferencing service from VTN to remotely diagnose diseases at locations including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Nghe An, and Hoa Binh. The Postal and Telecommunications Academy has also adopted the Video Conferencing service for remote training. To date, there are eight clients using this service.
