The UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued a warning about a new brain disease in animals that could be transmitted to humans. According to the FSA, this new brain disease exhibits symptoms similar to classical Scrapie, a degenerative disease that has previously spread among sheep but has not posed a threat to humans and has been recognized by science for over 100 years.
The FSA advises the public to exercise caution when consuming lamb sausage, goat meat, and certain other types of sausage. The agency has updated guidelines for food store owners in the UK regarding the risks associated with this new brain disease and has formally requested the European Commission to immediately implement new labeling regulations across the European Union to help consumers easily identify products containing sheep and goat meat.
