In the wildlife documentary Blue Wilderness, two divers, Mark and Mario, decided to dive to the ocean floor at night to explore the nocturnal life of sharks at Tiger Beach in the Bahamas.
Diver diving into the sea, waking up a sleeping Lemon Shark.
They discovered a large Lemon Shark (Scientific name: Negaprion brevirostris) that was sleeping. This species can grow up to 3 meters long and weigh over 90 kilograms. The two divers took a surprising action by attempting to wake the shark!
Sharks are dangerous predators with sharp teeth; would the Lemon Shark be startled and attack the diver when awakened? Surprisingly, this shark allowed the diver to touch it without displaying any aggression.
In fact, Lemon Sharks are not considered dangerous to humans like tiger sharks or bull sharks. They are quite docile despite their fearsome appearance. There have been no recorded incidents of this species attacking humans.
