Infants during the breastfeeding stage often experience abdominal pain that can sometimes be unclear in origin. If you don’t know how to respond promptly, you may feel confused when you see your child crying and uncomfortable.
Here are some suggestions to help you respond calmly:
1. Identify the cause of the child’s discomfort, such as teething or wet, tight diapers. If the child has abdominal pain, consider reviewing the nutritional components of the milk.
2. If the child is crying intensely due to pain, soothe them by gently holding them close and distracting them with toys or lullabies to help them temporarily forget the pain.
3. Wrap a warm towel around the child’s abdomen and gently massage the area to help them feel more comfortable.
4. Use your hands to gently rotate the child’s legs in a circular motion to generate warmth.
5. If the pain is frequent and does not improve, it is best to take the child to the nearest doctor to determine the cause and appropriate treatment.
