A rare white alligator has just been born at Gatorland in Florida, USA.
According to a statement from Gatorland, located in Orlando, Florida, on December 7, a female white alligator measuring 49 cm in length has emerged from her shell, making history as one of the rarest albino alligator species.

This species of albino alligator has the rarest genetic variation among alligators in the United States. This alligator originates from a clutch of albino alligators found in the swamps of Louisiana in 1987.
The newly hatched alligator, with striking blue eyes, is the first completely white alligator genetically derived from the original alligators. They are distinct from albino alligators, which have pink eyes and lack any pigmentation on their skin.
Mark McHugh, the president and CEO of Gatorland, stated that three of the seven original albino alligators are currently at Gatorland.
“This species is extremely rare. This is an extraordinary event,” Mr. McHugh remarked.
The park is inviting the public to help name the alligator.
Visitors to the park will be able to see this rare alligator alongside its normally colored sibling in early next year.
“Currently, we are keeping them in a safe place to closely monitor their health and growth progress,” Mr. McHugh added.
