White Dolphin |
According to the Hải Phòng Department of Fisheries Protection, a large pod of white dolphins, numbering in the hundreds, has been spotted in the waters off Đồ Sơn, about 3 nautical miles east of Hòn Dáu Island.
The dolphins have been seen leaping out of the water and swimming alongside the HP – 1908 patrol vessel of the Department.
Many fishermen believe this is a very auspicious sign for the Year of the Dog (Bính Tuất) 2006. Meanwhile, authorities confirm that white dolphins are highly sensitive to marine environments and only thrive in clean waters.
The presence of white dolphins is a positive indicator for the marine environment in Hải Phòng.
